How Mark Cuban Went From $60 In His Pocket To Becoming A Billionaire
On July 4th, 2017 Cuban tweeted that it was the anniversary of the day
he left Indiana University with “$60, hole in my floorboard, case of oil in the trunk & a floor to sleep on in Dallas”
Mark Cuban was an entrepreneur from the beginning.
He decided to go to IU because it was cheapest and he had to pay for tuition himself. How did he do that? Cuban gave disco lessons on campus which lead to him hosting disco parties.
After leaving college Cuban stayed in a 3 bedroom house with 5 guys, barely scraping by. He landed a job selling software that gave him the computer expertise to start a consulting firm Compusolutions, which he sold for $6 million in 1990.
He wasn’t done making his fortune yet, Cuban sensed the coming years held something special with the emergence of the internet. He and a business partner launched broadcast.com, a site that allowed people to listen to sports games online, and sold it to Yahoo! for $6 billion 3 years later before the internet bubble popped.
