This is Why Successful People Meditate

Who even meditates?

Well, according to an Inc. article written by James Paine, a lot of successful entrepreneurs do.

Arianna Huffington, Jerry Seinfield, Joe Rogan, Oprah Winfrey are some of the ones mentioned in such list.

So if anyone meditates, it’s entrepreneurs. In fact, Tim Ferris, author of The 4-Hour Workweek, surveyed 140 successful people in their field.

He found out that 90% of them meditate, or have a mindfulness morning practice.

It can be concluded, then, that meditation is a common practice among successful businessmen and entrepreneurs.

We know The Who, but what’s The Why?

Why do these successful people meditate?

Tim Ferris has his own say, he claims that “meditation, or mindfulness practice, it’s really about, to me, decreasing emotional reactivity so you can proactively create your day and create your life; versus, just being a walking reflex that sometimes screws up…”

1. Productivity

A study from 2012 compared the ability of two groups to act in high-performance situation.

One group meditated for days and was tested again.

The other group never underwent meditation practices, and they were also tested again.

As it turns out, the group that practiced meditation showed improvement.

2. Decision-making

Mindfulness meditation and Transcendental Meditation are two forms of meditation.

They both improve the parts of your brain which are responsible for decision-making.

3. Creativity

They need to think in an original way, and believe in an imagination.

If you want to start to think like an entrepreneur, how about you start by meditating? Studies show that meditation increases creativity.

4. Relaxation

Whether it’s the job you want to quit, or the business that’s not working for you, there’s stress in your life.

One study found that mindfulness and meditations reduce stress when practiced for three months.

5. Attention

Meditation allows you to pay more attention to your ideas, goals, plans, etc.

Mindfulness training, or meditation, helps your brain to access and store information more efficiently.

It also helps disregard information that is meaningless and futile, that way you can focus on actual important tasks and information throughout the day.

You can see why successful people enjoy meditating.

Its amazing benefits only cost around 30 minutes a day. It’s something you could start on, and something I started myself just last week.
